Barry Svenkeson SAA CPA North Battleford

Barry Svenkeson

B Comm, CPA, CA*

Barry was born and raised on a farm north of Weldon, graduating from the Birch Hills high school in June 1980. He attended the University of Saskatchewan obtaining his Bachelor of Commerce in April 1984.

He articled with a national CA firm in Prince Albert where he obtained his CA designation in December 1985. In the fall of 1987, he became the Director of Finance for Northern Housing Development (1967) Ltd., the operator of two nursing homes for a year. During this time he obtained his Certificate in Health Care Administration from the University of Saskatchewan.
In October 1988, Barry and his wife Donna moved to North Battleford for him to join Beggs Downie Meena Johnson Gress as a staff CA and a year later as a partner. In December of 1994, Barry, Donna and their three children moved to Meadow Lake to manage the firm’s new office there. While in Meadow Lake, Barry served time as treasurer for the local golf club, board trustee with the school division, board member of the Kinsmen Foundation and was awarded as a Kinsmen life member. With a business partner’s forthcoming retirement, the decision was made to sell the Meadow Lake practice to our staff CA there and move back to the Battlefords in August 2008.

In December 2013, Barry withdrew as a partner to focus on a second career as the controller for the Kuzmicz family group of companies in Emerald Park.

Barry’s spare time is spent with his family including the three grandchildren and enjoying (or frustration with) the game of golf.
